Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Uxbridge Man and Van in respect of our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in all their forms and are committed to acting ethically, transparently, and with integrity in all our business dealings.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Uxbridge Man and Van provides moving, transport, and related support services to individuals and organisations. Our supply chains include vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, facilities and cleaning services, and certain outsourced administrative and support services. We understand that each of these relationships must be managed responsibly to minimise the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
Uxbridge Man and Van has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. We do not condone, support, or engage in any practice that exploits people or strips them of their fundamental rights. This commitment applies to all aspects of our operations, including recruitment, employment practices, contracting, and procurement.
All colleagues, contractors, and suppliers are expected to comply with our zero-tolerance stance. We are committed to refusing to work with any party that is known to be involved in, or fails to take adequate steps to prevent, modern slavery or human trafficking in their business or supply chains.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We seek to work only with suppliers and partners who uphold the same ethical standards that we apply to ourselves. Our supplier expectations include compliance with all applicable labour laws, the prohibition of forced, bonded, or compulsory labour, and the protection of workers from abuse, exploitation, or unsafe working conditions.
Uxbridge Man and Van carries out proportionate checks on higher-risk suppliers, which may include requesting information on labour practices, reviewing publicly available information, and, where appropriate, conducting site visits. Supplier relationships are reviewed periodically, and any concerns regarding modern slavery are investigated promptly. Where a supplier is unable or unwilling to meet our expectations, we will consider remedial action, up to and including ending the business relationship.
Employment Practices and Training
We are committed to fair and transparent recruitment and employment practices. All staff are engaged on terms that comply with relevant legislation, including the right to work, minimum wage requirements, and working time regulations. We do not charge recruitment fees and do not retain original personal documents as a condition of employment.
Where appropriate, we provide guidance and awareness-raising for colleagues, especially those in roles that involve procurement, recruitment, or supplier management. This guidance helps staff recognise signs of modern slavery and understand the steps to take if they have concerns.
Reporting Concerns and Protection
Uxbridge Man and Van encourages anyone working for or with us to report concerns about modern slavery or human trafficking in confidence. Concerns may include suspected exploitation, unsafe or degrading working conditions, withholding of wages, retention of identity documents, or any other practice that may indicate modern slavery.
Reports can be made to line managers, senior management, or through internal reporting routes made available to staff. We are committed to treating all reports seriously, investigating them promptly, and maintaining confidentiality as far as practical. No one will suffer any detrimental treatment for raising a concern in good faith.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires continuous vigilance and improvement. Uxbridge Man and Van regularly reviews its policies, procedures, and supplier engagements to identify potential areas of risk and strengthen controls where necessary.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with best practice and legal requirements. Updates will reflect any changes in our business operations, supply chains, or risk assessments, as well as lessons learned from audits, incidents, or staff feedback.
By publishing this Statement, Uxbridge Man and Van reaffirms its commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking and to working collaboratively with staff, suppliers, and other stakeholders to uphold human rights and dignity in all that we do.
